FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JULY 7, 2000
"MOVIE FX" DVD MAGAZINE LAUNCHED
The
premiere issue of "Movie FX", the new DVD format magazine devoted to
motion picture special effects has just been released with full retail
nationwide distribution. The initial response has been overwhelming, with Movie
FX selling out in many locations.
This
is the first DVD magazine devoted to special effects and it has proven to be
the perfect visual format to cover such a visual art form. DVD delivers
excellent picture and sound quality, a non-linear format, movie trailers and
DVD links to web sites. It also offers
full TV commercials to advertisers.
Created
by Gary Barth, an award-winning writer
and producer with over 12 years experience in the video game industry, the
magazine was born from his extensive
knowledge of producing CD magazines and multimedia products and his hobby of
special effects and prop collecting. "I wanted to focus on everyone who
makes a contribution to the effects industry. Each issue will have interviews
with veteran artists, go behind the scenes on movie productions, attend
industry-related events, check out interesting props up close, and even offer a
lesson or two how effects are created ," says Gary. "And the DVD
format just makes sense. It’s the future of periodical publishing for anything
having to do with the entertainment industry."
The
magazine has been well received by the studios and members of the effects
industry alike. "It's great to see a magazine focusing on the visual effects
industry in a DVD format," says Phil Tippett.
The
second issue will be coming out in October and will be
issued quarterly from that point on. It retails for $9.99 and can be found in
most genre/hobby stores and soon in all major bookstore chains. Copies can also
be ordered off the web site at www.moviefxmag.com.
